I get this question more than I expected, usually from someone running a motorcycle shop or a small-engine repair place who found ShopSynq while looking for auto shop software and wondered if it'd actually work for them. The honest answer is: mostly yes, with one real gap I want to be straight about instead of glossing over.
Here's the thing about a repair order. Underneath all the auto-specific language, it's really just three ideas: a customer, a machine, and a job. Who owns it, what it is, and what's wrong with it. That structure doesn't care if the machine has four wheels, two wheels, or a pull cord. A repair order for a Harley with a bad stator and a repair order for a 2006 Acura with a blown head gasket go through the exact same steps: intake, diagnosis, estimate, approval, labor, invoice. I didn't design ShopSynq around cars specifically. I designed it around that workflow, because that's the part that's actually universal.
Where it genuinely works today
Repair orders, scheduling, invoicing, parts inventory, customer and vehicle history, time tracking — none of that is automotive-specific under the hood. If you run a motorcycle shop, an ATV shop, or a small-engine repair business, you can create a customer, log their machine, open a job, track parts and labor against it, and close it out as an invoice today. That part isn't a maybe. It works because it was never really built around a car in the first place.
Where I haven't done the work yet
The screen still says "VIN" and "Vehicle." It says "Mileage." If you're entering a dirt bike or a chainsaw, those fields don't quite fit, and you'll notice it. I know this because I already did the real version of this work once — when a marina customer needed vessel records, I built HIN tracking, engine hours instead of mileage, and a whole vocabulary swap so the app actually speaks marine instead of automotive with the serial numbers changed. That took a real build cycle, migration 017, mid-to-late June. I haven't done that same pass for motorcycles, ATVs, or small engines. Not because it can't be done, I think it's a smaller lift than marine was, but because nobody's asked for it with enough weight behind it yet to justify building it before other things.
Works Now
Repair orders, invoicing, parts, scheduling, customer/machine history, time tracking — vehicle-type-agnostic by design.

Field labels still say VIN, Mileage, Vehicle — car language on a screen tracking something else.
Not Built Yet
No dedicated terminology swap or inspection templates for motorcycle/ATV/small-engine, unlike the full marine adaptation.

Why I'm writing this instead of just claiming it
I turned wrenches flat rate for years before I opened my own shop in Cardington. The software I used never told me the truth about what it actually did versus what the sales page said it did, and I always found out the hard way, usually mid-job. I'm not going to run ShopSynq that way. If a motorcycle shop signs up expecting a fully tailored experience like the marine plans get, they're going to be a little disappointed by a screen that still says "Mileage." I'd rather they know that going in and decide it's still worth it for the actual workflow underneath, than sell them something I haven't built.

That's exactly the kind of signal that turned into the marine build. It's not on the roadmap with a date next to it right now, but it's not off the table either.
