It's built as a swappable layer on purpose. Nothing else in ShopSynq AI needs to know which data provider is behind Specs & Labor, and lookups are cached shop-wide so a repeat search on the same vehicle doesn't cost anything twice.
Labor times and torque specs used to mean a separate subscription, a separate login, a separate tab open on a different screen. Having it inside the same app the RO is already open in is the actual point, not just a nice-to-have.
Why there's an attribution line under results
Open Labor Project requires a visible "Data from openlaborproject.com" credit on its lower service tiers, a standard data-licensing term, not a ShopSynq design choice. It's a small line at the bottom of the results panel and doesn't affect how the data is used elsewhere in the app.
What a full partnership unlocks
Today's integration runs on a limited trial tier of Open Labor Project's API. Moving to a full paid partnership is a scaling step, not a different feature, and it means two concrete things:
- No daily lookup cap: shops doing real volume won't run into a request ceiling
- The attribution requirement goes away: a cleaner results panel, no licensing credit needed
